A warm welcome to our childen and parents. We hope you have had a super summer break. We look forward to welcoming all nursery and reception children to school on Monday 5th September.

Autumn One: Should Goldilocks say sorry?

During our first half term at school we will be exploring many intriguing fairy tales. During this unit of work, we will be designing a new chair for Baby Bear, comparing and contrasting characters from different faiy tales and constructing maps of the different journeys that characters take. We will also be exploring a variety of fairy tales through our musical movement sessions each Tuesday morning.

Reception children will be starting phonics as soon as they arrive in school. As a school we follow the  'Read, Write, Inc.' phonics programme. This half term will focus on the learning of single sounds.

Our class text for our English unit of work is 'The Gingerbread Man' written by Mara Alperin- a firm favourite down in early years!

In maths, children will be mastering the numbers 1-3. They will be working on their counting skills and working hard on their 1:1 correspondence. They will start to subitise small amounts and will also be exploring shapes, pattern and capacity.

Please see the topic map below for a more in depth coverage of the whole curriculum.
