Spring 1- Why should Britain be ashamed of Slavery?

We will explore where slaves came from and where they went to, life on board a transportation ship and explore what happened in Slave Auctions. 

In English, we will be exploring 'Arthur and the Golden Rope' alongside our Reading text, 'Odd and the Frost Giants'

In Maths, we will further our knowledge of Multiplication and Division as well as explore Perimeter and Area

Key information:

P.E- in Spring 1, Explorers will be taking part in weekly outdoor Cricket lessons every FRIDAY. They will need a full P.E kit (yellow school top, black shorts and pumps/trainers)

We will be swimming every TUESDAY morning. Your child must have a full swimming kit and towel in a bag. Goggles are optional.

Your child's P.E kit must remain in school.

Home Reading- Reading books and diaries must be in school daily. Please read with your child every night and sign their diary. 

Reading books will be changed on a Friday, or when appropriate. Your school book bag must be in school every day. 

Homework- Homework will be given every MONDAY. Children will have a set of 10 weekly spellings which they will write into their homework book and practice daily. Their spelling test will be on a FRIDAY. A Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar activity will be given each MONDAY. 

Alongside this, children will use their times tables book to practise times tables each week. Times table tests will be on a FRIDAY. 

Homework club is available on a WEDNESDAY lunchtime if your child needs some support or time to complete their homework.

TimesTable Rockstars- Your child will be given a login to use at home and in school. Please ensure your child practises at home. WHO WILL BE THE WEEKLY ROCK HERO... COULD IT BE YOU?

Your child needs to bring in a water bottle containing only water every day and a snack of fruit if desired.
