Autumn One- Ancient Egypt
How can we recreate the wonder of Ancient Egypt?
In our Knowledge lessons this half term, we will be exploring the wonders of Ancient Egypt. We will look closely at the River Nile and how important it was for life in Ancient Egypt. We will also explore the Ancient Egyptian Gods and the role played by Pharoahs. Mummification was a huge part of Ancient Egyptian life and we will look in closer detail at the rituals they followed as well as key historical figures such as Tutankhamun and Howard Carter. We will design and build our own pyramids as well as use hieropglyphics to create our own cartouche.
In English, the text we will be using is 'Gorilla' by Anthony Browne. We will be writing our own narratives based on this fantastic story.
In Maths, we will begin by exploring Place Value before moving on to formal written methods of addition and subtraction. By the end of the half term, we will have looked at all four operations.
- P.E lessons will take place every Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your child has the correct kit available in school. Their P.E kit must remain in school.
