Spring One- The Roman Empire

Who were the Romans so powerful and what did we learn from them?

Children will Understand the role of The Roman Empire and its impact on Britain including The Roman Empire by AD42 and the power of its army. They will be able to Locate Rome on a historic and modern day map and have an understanding of the Geography of the Roman invasion. We will explore Julius Caesar's attempted invasion in 55-54BC and look closely at the impact and history of Hadrian's Wall. Children will understand British Resistance eg Boudicca and explore Roman technology (Roman Roads), culture and beliefs through exploring religion (Roman Gods) and art (mosaic). 

Key Information 

  • P.E lessons will take place every Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your child has the correct kit available in school. Their P.E kit must remain in school.
  • Your child will need their reading book and reading diary in their school book bag every day. Their books will be changed every friday (or earlier if needed)
  • Don't forget to practise your times tables using TimeTable Rockstars each night. There will be rewards for children who play consistently as well as high scorers. 
  • Your child's water bottle must be in school every day- water only please. They can also bring a piece of fruit for snack if desired.
